More than 60 years of engineering experience translates into expertise in all forms of metal manufacturing, including stainless and aluminum as well as sheet, tubing, wire, plastics, and wood fabrication.


SMP’s in-house Tool and Die Department has over 100 years combined experience designing and building all types of tooling, from simple check gauges to complex progressive dies. We employ some of the latest tooling technologies as well as good old-fashioned Tool and Die practices to build and maintain efficient and accurate tooling.

With the skills to create precise fixtures and custom made electrodes, our Tool Makers are experts in the complexities of resistance welding.

Wire Fabrication

SMP’s wire capabilities include straightening, cutting, forming and welding. We have several wire straightening machines that can handle a wide range of wire gauges. A variety of CNC controlled robotics allows us to produce both simple and complex 2D and 3D parts.


CNC equipment is used to form, bend, or break a wide range of steel, aluminum and stainless, including wire, tubing and sheet stocks. Our brake presses range in tonnage from 15 to 225 with a maximum bed length of 12 feet.

The hydraulic tube bending equipment we utilize allows us to bend both square and round tubing in a wide range of sizes.


We have several large capacity punch presses, ranging from 15 - 250 tons. Our stamping systems utilize both coil and strip feeding with various bed size ranges for a variety of part sizes.

CNC Metal Fabrication and Processing

The Cincinnati Laser we currently use includes a 6’ x 10’ bed and a material transfer system that can cut up to 1/4" thick mild steel.

Material is easily moved in and out of the machine with an Amada CNC punch press with 54 stations adjacent to transfer systems.


Accuracy and repeatability of parts is the result of operating several manual resistance welding machines, numerous manual MIG welding machines, 3 CNC resistance welding machines, and 1 CNC robotic MIG welding machine.

The CNC resistance welders we use handle a variety of parts in shape, size and material. They all incorporate automated turntables as well as have programmable z axis control.

A simple touch “teach pad” for easy programming as well as (2) 40” x 80” rotating beds that allow for multiple unique parts to be run simultaneously are just two of the benefits associated with the CNC robotic MIG welder.

Metal Finishing

We have in-house electrostatic powder coating as well as a nickel and chrome plating system.

Our powder coat system has a 5 stage pretreatment system using conventional cleaning chemicals and washers. We have 673 feet of overhead conveyor that allows for maximum throughput as well as quick color changes.

Inventory Management and Fulfillment

Over 120,000 square feet of warehouse space in Chattanooga and 50,000 square feet of space in Long Beach, CA, allows us to handle any storage and fulfillment needs our clients have. Our fulfillment capabilities include order processing, warehousing, inventory management, and drop shipping.

Global Capabilities

Due to the ever-expanding needs of our client base, SMP has created strategic partnerships in Asia. Through these partnerships, SMP has expanded its domestic manufacturing capabilities to a global level. With the ability to produce, warehouse and distribute from the United States, China and Korea, SMP has broadened its global reach to ensure our customers have international touch-points when implementing and executing their in-store branding programs.
